As the new year unfolds, our yoga studio witnesses an influx of new practitioners keen to experience the transformative benefits of Bikram yoga, particularly in the realm of hot yoga. A recurring question among our female participants is whether it's suitable to continue their practice during menstruation. Understanding the unique nature of Bikram yoga, we believe in empowering individuals to make choices that align with their bodies and well-being.

Bikram yoga, with its unvarying sequence of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises conducted in a heated room, provides a distinct environment for practitioners. Unlike some yoga styles where modifications are encouraged, Bikram yoga follows a fixed sequence without adaptations allowed. Therefore, the decision to practice during menstruation solely rests with the individual.

It's essential to recognize that every body is different, and what feels right for one person may not be the same for another. Some practitioners may find that the heat and intensity of Bikram yoga provide a welcome distraction or alleviate menstrual discomfort. Others may prefer a more restful approach during this time.

Given the fixed nature of the Bikram sequence, we encourage individuals to listen to their bodies and make choices accordingly. If you decide to practice during your menstrual cycle, ensure you are comfortable and make modifications as needed within the established sequence. Alternatively, if you choose to take a break or explore non-heated classes, we fully support your decision.

In Bikram yoga, where adherence to the sequence is paramount, we celebrate the autonomy of individuals in making choices that best suit their bodies and needs. Our studio is committed to providing a supportive and inclusive space for your yoga journey, respecting the diverse choices our practitioners make during their practice, particularly when it comes to navigating menstruation.
